ProCredit Bank has been certified under ISO 14001:2015, the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. The certificate was issued by TÜV AUSTRIA ALBANIA.
ProCredit Bank Albania conducts its business activities in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner to protect the environment and prevent pollution. As a result of internal awareness, applying environmentally friendly procedures and consistent in-house energy and resource efficiency measures, ProCredit Bank has improved its environmental performance and its overall consumption has decreased.
For example, in 2016, in absolute consumption terms, the bank decreased electricity consumption by 12%, paper consumption by 21%, and fuel consumption for transport by 17%; at the same time, carbon dioxide emissions were also reduced by 15% compared to the previous year.
In addition to its own direct impact, ProCredit Bank also cares about its customers’ impact on the environment and supports them in further improving their environmental approach. Today, the environmental and social risk analysis is an integral part of the bank’s assessment of potential clients, which goes hand in hand with supporting investments that serve to improve clients’ environmental performance.
The assessment process also includes screening our clients’ business activities against the exclusion list - rejecting those that are deemed harmful to the environment - as well as assessing and regularly monitoring our clients’ economic activities.
Adela Leka, Spokesperson of the Management Board, ProCredit Bank Albania, emphasized: “The ISO 14001:2015 certificate confirms the success of the bank employees’ efforts to improve the environmental performance of the bank. Certification from an independent external company is further proof that ProCredit Bank has created an environmental management and protection system that complies with local and international regulations, and also promoting our environmental approach to our clients, and public in general”.
As part of ProCredit’s group-wide efforts to continuously improve its environmental management performance, all ProCredit banks have either already obtained or are in the process of obtaining certification of conformity with the international standard ISO 14 001.
Since 2009, ProCredit Bank has disbursed EUR 40 million in Eco loans, which support investments in energy efficiency measures and renewable energy, as well as in other environmental protection measures.
ProCredit Bank Albania will continue to raise the environmental awareness of its employees, its customers and the general public, as well as to support people’s initiatives on environmental protection.
