What is better than a big and joyful harvesting festival, which promotes excellent local products? Do not miss celebrations of this years’ harvest at the annual Manderine Festival, in Xarra, which will be organized this weekend, hosted by USAID and AAC-Lushnja, along with the Municipality of Konispol.

Everyone can participate, not only to enjoy fresh and delightfully smelling tangerines, but also to take part in harvest activities, as well as other agro-tourism activities, together with farmers and agribusinesses.This year’s Mandarin Festival, will be organized on November 26, 2016 in Xarra, Saranda, under the auspices of USAID and AAC-Lushnja.

Make sure to go to Xarra to enjoy fresh and delightfully smelling tangerines, but also to take part in harvest activities, as well as other agro-tourism activities, together with farmers and agribusinesses. USAID, Ministry of Agriculture, and local community officials will be present. The festival is a celebration to promote Albanian citrus production, coinciding with the citrus harvest and the culmination of a year of effort by citrus growers in southern Albania.

Currently Xarre has over 85 thousand trees and citruses in production, 75 thousand of which are mandarins. The total production of mandarins has grown from 2.480 metric tons in 2009, with 40.6 kg production per tree, to 8.100 metric tons in 2013, with average production 85 kg per tree.
